In loving memory of
Derek Joynes
It is with great sadness that the membership of Garrison Little Theatre mourns the passing of Derek Joynes (1932 - 2023). Serving as the first president of the group, Derek was instrumental in its formation in 1986. During those early years and throughout his life, Derek acted, directed and supported and fostered the talents of those around him. A keen observer of human nature, Derek was a gifted actor and director who delighted in helping fellow thespians develop and express their own gifts.
Derek is pre-deceased by his wife Pat who passed away late 2022.
They were a dynamic pair of kindred spirits and her loss had a profound effect
on our Derek.
In 1986, a small band of like-minded members of the community gathered around
the leadership of Pat and Derek with the purpose of forming an amateur community theatre group. The result was Garrison Little Theatre which has grown to become
a cherished community institution.
Derek leaves a legacy of many treasured experiences shared with local performers. He was a generous partner to act with, a creative director to learn from, and
a cheerful companion with whom we walked this little while together and he will
be missed. God bless his memory.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pat Joynes,
the "mom" of Garrison Little Theatre, on December 31, 2022.
Pat was one of the founding members of this community theatre which she, along with her husband Derek Joynes, established in Fort Erie in 1986.
Pat enjoyed all aspects of theatre whether it was working behind the scenes, directing, producing or acting on stage.
Pat, thanks for everything you gave of yourself, you'll always be in our hearts!
