While driving on the highway near Stewiacke, Nova Scotia one day a few years ago I saw a sign that read "Halfway To The North Pole". I wonder what that's about, I thought. I did some research. Stewiacke is exactly halfway between the Equator and the North Pole! There has to be a play in that, I thought. At the very least, it's a great title. Halfway to the North Pole. That's what the play was originally titled. But when I finished it, I discovered that everyone thought that it was a Christmas play. It's not a Christmas play. Not even close. It is a play about friendship, that just happens to be set in a small town located halfway to the North Pole.
I find the older I get, the more I write about subjects that are important to me. My last few plays have been about family and friendship. Freud would have a field day with this.
